2nd Lieutenant Henry Ossian Flipper

Second Lieutenant Henry Ossian Flipper (1856–1940) was the first African American to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, breaking barriers as a second lieutenant in the Buffalo Soldiers. Despite facing racial prejudice, he served with distinction, becoming an engineer, surveyor, and advocate for African American progress.
