West Ford

West Ford, an African American man born into slavery. Freed by the Washington family and given land. Later became caretaker and manager of the Mount Vernon Plantation, founder and father of Gum Springs, Fairfax County, Virginia. Ford oral history he is the son of George Washington. abt 1784 – 1863.
