Bank Draft 1921 from Major Grote Hutcheson, 9th Cavalry Commander
In 1921, a significant artifact surfaced from historical archives: a bank draft issued by Riggs National Bank, Washington, D.C. This relic links to Major Grote Hutcheson, who led the 9th Regiment of the Cavalry, known as the Buffalo Soldiers from 1884 to 1895. This document provides a tangible link to the past, shedding light on that era's financial transactions and administrative activities.
Notes: Account payment record No. 3 from the United States, dated 1886, Voucher #74, reconciles 1st Lieutenant John E. Hosmer's account with his unit, the 16th U.S. Infantry, for $123.63 on November 30, 1866.
