1889 Pattern Campaign Cavalry Hat

This original 1889 cavalry hat, a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of its time, belonged to a U.S. trooper from Massachusetts who served in the Frontier Wars and Spanish-American War. It features ventilation with a distinctive snowflake pattern on both sides. The wide leather sweatband is intact primarily and securely sewn about 75% of the way. The silk hat ribbon remains in place, and the triple stitching reinforces the rim. Some wear and tear, including holes, are visible on the crown, a reminder of its age and use.

Notes: The 1889 cavalry hat includes air vents punched into the crown, resembling a snowflake pattern.
